Volcanic Beach

Volcanic Beach < PreviousNext >
This is Los Cristianos in Tenerife. I wanted to show the dark rocks that make up the beach. It brings home that you're standing there taking photos of the sunset on nothing but a volcano. This is a 2-exposure DRI.

Nice combination of blue and black. The water and sky are a perfect matching blue and the rocks, clouds and tall buildings are black to blue in tone. Great timing. [what is DRI?]
CurlyToes
Thanks Eric. DRI is "Dynamic Range Increase". It's basically the merging of two exposures into one photo; very similary to HDR except it's not done via tone-mapping, it's just done with masks in Photoshop :)

love this shot! great contrast between the nature and made...

I most like the framing to this shot. It really draws you in. What's DRI? I notice that it has a strong grain to the top of the image?
CurlyToes
Yeah, it is a bit noisy in the top, that's true. The JPG compression doesn't help, but boosting the saturation can cause that. BTW, I answered what DRI is in the above comment.
